wow..it’s really a New year, huh!?! can’t believe how fast the last one went… i realized the last blog i posted was on my birthday..LOL! dang! christmas was s’posed to be a “white” one but that got canceled…so ramon and i decided to get away the following weekend to celebrate my bday, new year’s and our anniversary. we headed up to kirkwood for some snowboarding, pics to come. we got there with plenty of time before midnight, unpacked, lit a nice fire, and chilled for a bit. we rented a studio in one of the village units so at least it had a kitchen. LOL..the bed was “in the wall”.. you know one of the pull out beds..and the couch was a futon that opened into a bed..so since the tv was facing the couch, we ended up sleeping on that instead… we brought a bottle of grey goose with us and when midnight struck…we each took two shots…ding ding..happy new year! there were a lot of people outside setting off fireworks, hanging out in the cold yelling..most of them were coming from the local bar/grill, so i’m sure they were pretty drunk..LOL!
01.01.10, the day was bright so we decided to go play in the snow which came up to our knees every step we took.. ha ha that was fun trying to get out of… we grabbed our gear and headed for the slopes… yes, my butt hit the ice when i got off the lift, it always does! LOL! the guy was about to stop the lift so the chair doesn’t hit me but i knew how to crawl fast! hahahahaha.. that was hella funny! shit it has been over 2 years since i went snowboarding last so i had to get my bearings back… i get to the edge of the mountain and look down and all i said was…”are you fucking kidding me!?!” O_O it was pretty steep and visibility was kind a shot - it was lightly snowing and foggy up there! naturally, i do “falling leaf” for the most part down and falling down was okay because it was all fresh and the powder was nice and soft! ^__^ when i finally get to a part of the mountain where i “try” to carve…OH MY..yah, like that was going to happen on an instant…WTF! my happy ass didn’t seem to grasp the concept of “carving” right away so my body goes one way and my feet go another which is hard because you’re “stuck” to your board, and well, yah, falling down i go…but oh man, if you saw the way i fell, you would’ve hella laughed because ramon did! so did i after i finally stopped sliding down… o____O it hurt! no pain no gain…i got back up and tried it again, fell again and again and again… it slowly came back.
the worse part, getting back to our room to rest and chill for the day/night, we find out we have no power…WTF!!! we use up the last of the “hot” water soaking and rely on firewood to keep us warm.. we even have to warm our soup over the fire (thank god we packed some “easy” to cook food) …. we notice a lot of people packing up and leaving but we stay… the next day, still no power, no hot water, not even the phone was working… so we pack it up and head to the main building to check out only to find out their generator burnt down, completely down to the ground … so the resort had to close and refund 2 nights back to us for the inconvenience and sadly for them, had to refund a lot guests that weekend too…
oh well, we at least were able to get away, have a “white” new year and get in some snowboarding…and i was able to rest my body an extra day before heading back to work… ^___^
